3509 Baring Street, Philadelphia, PA

Project Description:

The Chabad Jewish Center at Drexel University, located at 3509 Baring Street, Philadelphia, PA, is undergoing a comprehensive expansion and renovation to better serve the community. Situated within a short walk from both Drexel University and the University of Pennsylvania, the center is strategically positioned as a hub for student life and engagement.

The renovation project includes the addition of a large dining area designed to accommodate communal meals and events. The facility will feature two commercial kitchens—one dedicated to dairy and another separate area for baking and meat preparation—ensuring compliance with kosher dietary laws. Additionally, there will be a student meal plan support kitchen to assist with daily meal preparation.

The expanded center will also house a mikvah, providing essential religious services to the community. An auditorium will be available for larger gatherings, lectures, and cultural events. The renovation includes modern office spaces and a conference room to facilitate administrative functions and meetings.

Above the main communal areas, the building will offer student living apartments, creating a convenient and integrated living space for students. This comprehensive expansion aims to enhance the Chabad Jewish Center as a vibrant and supportive environment for students, fostering a sense of community and belonging within the bustling academic neighborhood.
